Arsenal of email tools for Exchange Server including anti-spam, disclaimers & POP3 downloader
London, UK, 17 June 2002 - GFI has launched GFI MailEssentials for Exchange 7, a new product that adds essential email tools to Microsoft Exchange Server, including anti-spam, disclaimers, mail archiving, Internet mail reporting, server-based auto replies and POP3 downloading.
GFI MailEssentials 7 offers essential email features not found in Exchange Server to provide more effective corporate email use. With GFI MailEssentials, Exchange administrators can block spam at server level; add a corporate message to all outgoing email; archive mail; create reports on email use; download mail from POP3 mailboxes and direct it to one or more Exchange mailboxes; and send server-based auto replies.
Anti-spam GFI MailEssentials 7 includes an advanced anti-spam module that detects typical spam practices, such as incorrect Reply To addresses, From headers with nonexistent domains, and so on. GFI MailEssentials also allows administrators to configure lists of keywords and phrases enabling it to identify most spam mails.
Company-wide disclaimer/footer text With GFI MailEssentials, organizations can add a legal disclaimer and/or a standard corporate message to each outgoing email at server level. GFI MailEssentials supports disclaimers in text and HTML format.
Mail archiving & reporting GFI MailEssentials allows administrators to archive all inbound and outbound Internet mail to a database, for back-up or monitoring purposes. It also includes a module that can create reports on Internet mail use such as detailed logs of sent mail, daily statistics and reports per user or by date range.
Personalized server-based auto replies with tracking number GFI MailEssentials offers server-based personalised replies and assigns a unique tracking number to each reply as an easy point of reference. Because it can include attachments in the auto replies, GFI MailEssentials can also serve as an information-on-demand service, returning documents like price lists and brochures automatically on request.
POP3 downloader Exchange Server is unable to download mail from POP3 mailboxes. GFI MailEssentials includes a utility that can do this, supporting both single and multiple recipient POP3 accounts. In single recipient mode, GFI MailEssentials maps a POP3 mailbox to an Exchange mailbox; in multiple recipient mode, it analyses the email header and distributes the mail to the correct Exchange mailbox.
Seamless integration with Exchange Server GFI MailEssentials integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Exchange Server 2000. It installs on the Exchange 2000 SMTP service and does not require gateway configuration. Via the SMTP protocol, GFI MailEssentials also works with Exchange Server 5.5, Lotus Notes and other SMTP/POP3 servers.
Email content checking & anti-virus now in GFI MailSecurity Unlike previous versions, GFI MailEssentials 7 does not include email content checking and anti-virus features. These now form part of GFI MailSecurity for Exchange/SMTP, an email content checking, exploit detection, threats analysis and anti-virus solution that removes all types of email-borne threats before they can affect an organization's email users.
Pricing, specifications & availability GFI MailEssentials 7 is available from distributors around the world or online at the GFI site. Pricing starts at US$225 for 10 mailboxes.
